Dive Logbook for PROTEA BANKS

EPIC ... MIND BLOWING DIVE ON PROTEA BANKS!! 1000's OF HAMMERHEAD SHARKS AND MORE ...

22 January 2016 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: very strong
Viz: 30m
Sea Temp: 24 degrees Celsius

Southern Pinnacle: 50 minutes of 'amazingness'. As we dropped in we could already see the reef. As we hit the bottom we had a Zambezi (Bull) shark and then another one and then an Oceanic Blacktip shark, and the action did not stop. The Southern Pinnacle was alive, a Potato Bass, shoaling Kingfish and loads of reef fish. On Sand Shark Gully we had a Round Ribbontail Ray, when we looked up we had 100's and 1000's of shoaling Hammerhead sharks, when we looked down we had a mixture of Zambezi (Bull) and Oceanic Blacktip sharks and I am sure a few Dusky sharks as well - IT WAS INSANE and that was pretty much the rest of the dive, looking up or to the side, Hammerhead sharks and looking down more Zambezi and Oceanic Blacktip sharks ... woohooo. Also another HUGE shoal of Kingfish. Just to round it off we had a Copper shark on the safety stop. WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW!!

We also saw Dolphins and Flying fish from the boat.

OH my golly gosh what a dive!!!!!!!!!!
